Sunday School

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15

Goal: To engage members and non-members of the COGS in comprehensive Bible study and to lead the lost to Christ

Focus: Pray for God’s guidance as we disciple the saved and evangelize the Lost through Bible-based teaching.

Mission Statement: The Sunday School is committed to providing biblical education to people of all ages and to supporting the work of the other ministries of the church.

Objectives:

  • For efficiency in teaching and promoting interests, divide Sunday School classes on the basis of age and other conditions.
  • Under the supervision of the pastor, select or appoint teachers who are in full agreement with the doctrine and policy of the COGS, who are suited to the age group assigned and who understand organization, curriculum, and resources related to their assignment.
  • Work with district presidents to assist local churches in developing an outreach plan to engage persons in the community in the Sunday School on a regular basis.
  • Provide a plan and schedule on the district level for semi-annual or quarterly in-service training sessions for Sunday School teachers. Encourage local churches to provide ongoing training for teachers.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” II Timothy 3:16
