Missionary and Foreign Missions

Goal: To win souls to Christ and help strengthen those in need spiritually, emotionally and financially in the local church, communities and foreign fields

Focus: Pray for God’s guidance as we share the good news of Christ and minister to the needs of the people in the COGS, as well as communities at home and abroad.

Mission Statement: The Missionary Department is committed to awakening and sustaining interest in and support of the cause of mission, both home and foreign.

Objectives:

  • Identify a key area of missions to provide spiritual, financial and material support during the fiscal year. (Examples: Salvation Army Center, Food Bank Center, local prison ministries, COGS Jamaica, etc.)
  • Sponsor at least one delegate from the foreign field to the National Convocation and a U.S. delegate to the convention in the foreign field.
  • Actively recruit male members of the COGS to join the Missionary Department. The goal is three (3) from each local church.
  • Share progress of the missionary department by email, newsletter, special reports and the international website.
  • Visit the sick, mentally challenged, and those in bereavement and encourage with God’s word.
  • Support 100% the efforts of the local churches, district churches and the National Convocation.
  • Correspond with weak or struggling members by card, letter, email, or phone to give encouragement. Also communicate with those who have ceased to come to worship services.
  • Help in the formation of new missions.
  • Attempt to take the gospel in the homes of individuals who have little or no knowledge of Christ.
  • Visit smaller churches in groups to give encouragement and assistance. Present a program, when appropriate.
  • Develop fundraising processes to support the ministry.
  • Promote ongoing communication with the saints in the foreign field through pen pals, newsletters, emails, etc.
  • Supply Sunday School literature and other educational literature for the laity and clergy in the foreign field.
